Who is an ecological researcher, and what might be an environmentally aware research practice? Our colleagues, Lucy Sabin and Natalie Evans, approached these questions with remarkable depth during their presentation at the Symposium on Appropriate Science on April 16th at Amsterdam UMC, sharing some of the findings and practices from our project, RE4GREEN. The issues surrounding the definition and precise identification of an ecologically conscious and environmentally aware researcher, as well as the corresponding research practices characterized by genuine interest in supporting and promoting justice, nature protection, and the well-being of all living organisms—human and non-human—are cornerstone principles for the ethics of research, the researcher, and, of course, extremely critical parameters in a time when the planet is undergoing such a crisis.
